Dr. Ilija Jovanov, assistant professor

Dr. Ilija Jovanov was born in 1984 in Vršac. He graduated from the University of Novi Sad Faculty of Law in 2011. He received his LL.M. degree from the University of Novi Sad Faculty of Law in 2013 (“Legal State (Rechtsstaat) and the Institutional Preconditions of an Independent Judiciary”). He defended his doctoral dissertation (“Legal and Philosophical Foundations of the Social Contract Theory”) at the University of Novi Sad Faculty of Law in 2020.

Fellowships and grants: exceptional award of the University of Novi Sad for the achieved success (2006/2007).

Courses attended and/or visiting scholar: participated in ERASMUS+ program at Comenius University in Bratislava Faculty of Law, Slovakia (2018).

Employment: The University of Novi Sad Faculty of Law (2012- ).

Areas of research and expertise: social contract theory, law interpretation, rhetoric.

Languages: English (fluent), French (passive knowledge).
